Power of Words

Students are reaching out to different companies at this time for a job. Rejection letters can hit you hard and the pandemic has certainly not made it easy for any of us. While talking to students I’ve been learning a thing or two as I find myself in a similar situation.
Just this morning as I came out of class there was a rejection letter waiting for me in my inbox. Sure I was disappointed that my course proposal had been turned down due to lack of funds. However the rejection was beautifully worded.

Thank you for offering this great class to us and I hope you find a home for it soon.

The professor had also taken the effort to share with me faculty names from other universities whom I could reach out to as she believes, my “class sounds amazing and I wish we could offer it to our students”. Her mail certainly made my day. Words do make a difference.
