Music

As a carnatic vocalist for over three decades I have performed live, on radio, and television across the world. I’ve trained with stalwarts such as Smt Seethalakshmi Venkatesan, Shri V. Subrahmanian, Smt Lalgudi Rajalakshmi and other gurus across India.

Teaching

As a teacher of music appreciation my focus has been on the intersection of music and society. At Ahmedabad University I’ve taught an introductory course on different musical traditions, music and history of Bhakti mystics, and how music shapes cities.

Writing

My writing on culture, music and social topics has appeared in leading newspapers such as Deccan Herald, The Hindu, Mint, San Jose Mercury News, Sruti, and India Currents. I have also produced the Raga Ruminations podcast & the radio program Raagtime.
